ASME NQA-1 is the Quality Assurance standard that NUCON adheres to, as verified by audits performed every 2 years by the Nuclear Procurement Issues Committee (NUPIC ).

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff did a comparison of the Quality Standards of ASME NQA-1 & ISO 9001-2000, and concluded that NQA-1 better meets the Quality Assurance needs of the nuclear power industry. NUCON uses NQA-1 as its QA standard, unlike the other mercury adsorbent manufacturers, which all use ISO standards.

Use appropriate safety precautions when entering vessels or other enclosed spaces containing activated carbon. Exposure to strong acids and oxidizers can cause formation of toxic H2S gas.
